Music is an integral part of SDSMT. Our students develop creative abilities while working towards their science or engineering majors. Our music ensembles perform at national and international conferences, competitions, and festivals. Our faculty are known for their contributions to the music profession. Music Activities spent the 2011-2012 academic year moving into the former Old Gymnasium, signaling the first time that music has had a unique home on the campus. By early 2012, enough had been done to begin holding performances in the building. We anticipate continuing to improve the (now named) Music Center over the next years, eventually creating a fine music performance hall for the campus.
